HI, I’M LEWIS
I’m a two-tour combat veteran who had the pleasure of seeing Iraq a couple of times. I served for nearly ten years and got out in 2013 without much of a plan. I was angry, drinking a bit too much, and pretty jaded with the world around me.
My dad, being the guy he was, handed me a book and a plane ticket and told me to figure it out. And like any good infantryman, I said, “Sure—why not?”
I hiked the Camino in thirty days, and by the end of it, I was calmer, less angry, and a little more open to the world.
So why am I here?
I started thinking about what the Camino de Santiago did for me—and what it could do for others like me. I wish I’d had a transition period between my service and civilian life. That space to reset.
So I figured, why not?
Why not help my brothers and sisters who are suffering from PTSD? We don’t leave anyone behind—and I’m not about to start now.
This isn’t a cure-all. But from the research I’ve done—and the research that’s out there—why not try?
My hope is that through this organization, we can build a community that helps bring that dreaded number from 22 down to 0… and that everyone who walks the Warrior’s Way can find a little peace.
